Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

Josh Raynolds' annual report on the Best New Wines from Spain in Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar has just published and includes reviews on nineteen wines from Valkyrie Selections.

Bodegas Valdesil hit the trifecta for Montenovo, Valdesil, and Pezas da Portela (90-91-92, respectively) and Josh nailed it when he references the wines' "power and vivacity" and "depth and energy."

Also pulling out the one-two-three punch was Tomàs Cusiné with Auzells (90), Vilosell (89) and Geol (91). "Lush, spicy and seamless..." - that's the kind of stuff we love to hear!

For under $10, check out what Josh says is "juicy, focused and emphatically fruit-driven, offering energetic red berry and spice flavors that show a slight jamminess.  This easy-to-drink wine finishes with good cling." That is Lechuza Garnacha he's raving about - and yep, under $10 a bottle.

Losada Vinos de Finca has an impressive showing with a big 92 points for Altos de Losada, 91 for La Bienquerida, and 88 for Losada. The words "mineral" and "minerality" showed up each time...
