2020 Mestizaje Tinto

BLEND |70% Bobal, 16% Garnacha & 14% Syrah

VINEYARDS | Organic viticulture at 800 meters altitude where traditional farming meets modern techniques in this young wine from Mustiguillo.

WINEMAKING | The varieties are vinified separately and undergo malolactic in a mixture of oak and stainless steel. The final blend spends 11 months in French oak.

TASTING NOTES
Deep in color with an intriguing nose of black fruits, violets, cedar and black pepper. The fleshy dark fruit flavors of blackberry and black currant are lifted by brink mineral acidity (this is where those limestone soils come through) and fine tannins. Leaves you on a nice sweet and spicy finish, a perfect pair with anything cooked over fire & smoke.

“I also tasted the red 2020 Mestizaje, a blend of Bobal with 16% Garnacha and 14% Syrah with 13.5% alcohol and a pH of 3.56 with 5.65 grams of acidity (tartaric) from their vines in Terrrerazo at 800 meters in altitude. It fermented in French oak and stainless steel and matured in a combination of 225- and 500-liter oak barrels and oak vats for 10 months. It’s primary and immediate without the depth and complexity of the 2019 but really pleasant and with a tender, velvety palate with some chalky tannins and a tasty finish.” - Luis Gutierrez.
